Junior Hockey – Winter cancellations

In the unlikely event of cancelling Saturday morning hockey for Funsticks, Mini Sticks and Small Sticks we would be posting to Facebook at 7.30am on the Saturday morning. Hockey is played rain or shine and would only be cancelled if there were flooding or cold chill factors.

If a team does not want to play in certain weather conditions then that is the teams decision.

If a team is going to need to default from a Saturday game please contact the Hawke’s Bay Hockey office by 3.30pm Friday afternoon so we can contact the opposing side.

Kwik Sticks – Intermediate Hockey

The 2020 Competition will commence on the 20th July 2020 and will run for 10 weeks with the last week on the 21st September.

  • These competitions will be based at Park Island & Unison Hockey turf (exception is 7 A side all at Park Island)

New 7 aside Division

7 A Side

The competition will commence on the 24th July and finishes on the 21st September.

  • The Comp is held every Friday night for Div 4 & 5
  • The venue for 7 a side is Park Island only.
  • Half field only is used for each game.
  • It is purely 7 aside – can be 7 field players or 6 players plus a padded goalie.
  • No kicking fullback.

In alignment with the Hockey New Zealand Strategy review and current tournament offerings like AIMS, HBHA is now offering 7-a-side Friday night competitions. The format will allow schools the opportunity to enter a smaller sided and field competition. For ease of registrations, Division 1 will be for competitive teams and Division 2 will be for social teams and both will help schools who struggle to field a full field team.
