Small Sticks season information
Small Sticks – Mini Sticks, Kiwi Sticks Development & Kiwi Sticks Competitions
The 2021 Competition will commence on the 15th May and will run for 12 weeks with the last week on the 21st August.
- These competitions will be based at Park Island & Unison Hockey turf
- Grades – Mini Sticks (Yr 3 & 4), Kiwi Sticks Development (Yr 5 & 6) and Kiwi Sticks (Yr 5 & 6)
- Game day is Saturdays
- 12 week competition
- 6-a-side, quarter field for Mini Sticks & Kiwi Sticks Development grades and half field for Kiwi Sticks grade
- 20 minute halves

Cancellations
Junior Hockey – Winter cancellations
In the unlikely event of cancelling Saturday morning hockey for Funsticks, Mini Sticks and Small Sticks we would be posting to Facebook at 7.30am on the Saturday morning. Hockey is played rain or shine and would only be cancelled if there were flooding or cold chill factors.
If a team does not want to play in certain weather conditions then that is the teams decision.
If a team is going to need to default from a Saturday game please contact the Hawke’s Bay Hockey office by 3.30pm Friday afternoon so we can contact the opposing side.

Funsticks
- Park Island hockey turfs and Unison Hockey Stadium in Hastings.
Mini Sticks Dev, Mini Sticks and Kiwi Sticks Dev Teams
- Teams from the Havelock North & Hastings area’s will play at Unison Hockey Stadium
- Teams from the Napier area will play at the Park Island turfs
Kiwi Sticks Teams
- Kiwi Sticks teams will play at both Unison & Park Island turfs
Ground Abbreviations
- Cape turf = Park Island Turf
- Big Save turf = Park Island Turf
- UHS = Unison Hockey Stadium
Game Result Recording
- The preferred method recording the result is the game cards which are available at both Park Island and Unison and once the game has finished place your completed cards into either the slot at the front door at Park Island or the box located in the dug out at Unison. Please ensure you circle the grade your teams is competing in.

Umpiring
All teams will be expected to provide own umpires. If your school is interested in attending or hosting a Learn 2 Umpire Course please let Andi Leydesdorff know, hcm@hbhockey.org.nz

Season Info Division 1 & 2
The 2021 season will commence:
- Div 1 & 2 start on the 12th & 13th May and will run for 13 weeks – 18th & 19th August.
Season Info for Division 3 & 4 and Boys Colts
The 2021 Competition will start on the 10th May and run for 13th weeks – 23rd August.

No play days
There will be not hockey over the Term 3 holidays.
